The gruesome rape and murder of the trainee Doctor of Kolkata begs the questions that arise as to why women all over india have not shouted out for this injustice. It is at this moment that indians have to ponder upon the reasons as to how this culture of violence and disrespect continues unabated.

An unfortunate incident happened inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata (West Bengal) on the 9th of August in which a trainee doctor – Dr Moumita Debnath was raped while brutalized and killed in a inhumane way.  Her colleagues reported her missing the next morning, about 11:30 a.m.Her body was recovered in a seminar room. The body was in a semi-nude state, with evident symptoms of assault, such as blood from her eyes, mouth and reproductive organs. 

The autopsy revealed that Dr Debnath had been raped and sexually assaulted prior to being strangled to death. The four-page postmortem report described significant injuries, including a deep wound in her reproductive tract, as well as injuries to her lips, left leg, right hand, ring finger, neck, and face. There were scratch marks on her face, most likely produced by the attacker's fingernails. The autopsy also revealed that pressure had been applied to her mouth and throat, resulting in a fracture of her thyroid cartilage. 

Furthermore, the bleeding from her eyes, mouth, and private regions was attributed to "perverted sexuality" and significant aggression against her reproductive organs.
